National Salt Awareness Week

19 March 2015

Monday 16 March 2015 to Sunday 22 March 2015 marks Salt Awareness Week.

The aim of the week is to raise awareness of the health implications of a diet high in salt. Evidence has shown that regularly eating too much salt puts us at increased risk of developing high blood pressure. High blood pressure is the main cause of strokes and a major cause of heart attacks and heart failure. These are the most common causes of death and illness in the world.

Consensus Action on Salt & Health (CASH) are focusing this year on highlighting the importance of giving children a low salt diet early in life.
